NEWS: Archivo Pavilion Finalists : Olivia (IT) / Pabellón O (ES)

In no order of preference, Archivo Pavilion Finalists are unveiled…

Olivia

Olivia was submitted by Angelo Renna & Antonio Minto from Italy. The proposal was attractive to all our Jurys due to the fact, that the concept,  pays central attention of working with the community (something that Archivo was searching for). Without a doubt, the playfulness and wit of how it imagined to deal with Barragan´s House, made it a –literally– dynamic and fresh approach towards Barragan as our neighbor. The visual concept  that embodied Olivia, gained the approval of the jury versus its contestants due to the fact of its impeccable representation and smart collages, which made the proposal appealing to the eye. Adding positive variables, this proposal was almost the only one that included children inside of the space, revealing itself as an inclusive proposition.

Pabellón O

Delivered by Architect Alberto García Lacruz from Valencia Spain, Pabellón O represents the most prominent proposition inside the 4th category  into which the Jury divided the pool of contestants, Illusion as a mechanism for transformation. García Lacruz worked with a continous mirror wich immediately resembles Anish Kapoor´s Cloud Gate. Pabellón O did not proved strong on feasibility circumstances, although it was most picked between Jury committee because of the fantastic mirage effect that located the garden as protagonist, whilst the interiors also proved to be flexible and highly conceptualized. One of the most remarkable ideas of this proposal was settled in the use of light in the interiors, which liberated the pavilion to be a complete closed environment.
